Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Prepare the pastry: Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a floured surface.
Add ham and cheese: Arrange the ham slices evenly over the pastry, then evenly sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
Fold and cut: Fold the pastry in half, pressing lightly to seal the edges. Cut the folded pastry into 1-inch wide strips.
Twist and bake: Twist each strip and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Brush each with the beaten egg and, if using, sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the sticks are golden and crispy.
