This Cinnabon Cinnamon Roll Cake has all the delicious flavor of homemade cinnamon rolls, but without all the work! Simple cake made from scratch, swirled with cinnamon, butter and brown sugar with a sweet glaze drizzled on top makes this cake an absolute favorite.

Ingredients:

For the Cake:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

For the Cinnamon Swirl:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk

  2. Prepare the Cake Batter: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Stir in the melted butter until smooth.
  3. Make the Cinnamon Swirl: In a separate bowl, mix together the softened butter, brown sugar, flour, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
  4. Layer the Batter and Cinnamon Swirl: Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared baking dish. Spread the cinnamon swirl mixture evenly over the batter. Pour the remaining batter on top and smooth it out.
  5. Create Swirls: Use a knife to create swirls in the batter by gently running it through the cinnamon layer.

  7. Make the Cream Cheese Frosting: While the cake is baking, prepare the cream cheese frosting. In a mixing bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, and beat until creamy. Add milk as needed to reach your desired consistency.
  8. Frost the Cake: Once the cake is out of the oven and has cooled for a bit, spread the cream cheese frosting over the warm cake.
