Instructions:

Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the ziti until al dente as per the package’s directions. Once done, drain and keep aside.

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add your choice of ground beef or Italian sausage along with chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until the meat is thoroughly browned and the onions are soft.

Mix in the marinara sauce, diced tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture simmer for about 5-10 minutes to blend the flavors.

In a big mixing bowl, toss the cooked pasta with the meaty tomato sauce, 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, and half of the Parmesan cheese.

Transfer this delicious mix into a 9×13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly on top.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until the cheese is gorgeously melted and bubbly.

Finish by garnishing with chopped basil or parsley right before you serve.
