FRIED APPLE or PEACH PIES

What’s more American than apple pie? Well, hold on a sec—did you know apple pie actually has German roots? But fear not, because we’ve got the American twist covered: fried apple pie! Kudos to the dude who has his priorities straight. So, whether it’s July 4th or just a day when you want to embrace your inner awesome American, whip up this crispy, iconic dessert from the renowned NYC bistro, Lexington Brass. It comes complete with graham cracker ice cream (!) and is sure to give the guy at the grill a run for his money—especially if he’s still stuck on the whole German apple pie thing. Now, get that deep-fryer going and bring out the ice cream machine. We’re taking it up a notch.

While brick dough can be found in Middle Eastern grocery stores (and is totally worth the hunt), puff pastry or even phyllo will work in a pinch.
